Good base map with autotune ! It also keeps the motor running smooth with what all the different gas stations offer.

Default Dyno or Not

I know that many say that you cannot get a good tune unless you do a custom made map by dynoing.

I know that many say that you do not need a custom made map that you can start off w/a good base map and let the auto-tuner provided that you have one do the work, and build a great map.

It seems that as many people say that dynoing a bike is a good thing that there are others who say that it puts 5 K worth of wear on your ride by dynoing or custom building you a map.

Any who, I welcome your oipinions and am trying to do a poll on this one, as Im sure that I am not the only one with this question..

I have watched a lot of Dyno Tunes.
Unless I was racing and needed every ounce of power to win something BIG I would not go near a dyno with my bike.
Every time I see a bike being dyno tuned I expect to see the rods coming out of the block. The tuners doing there job run your engine and drive train to the max. This must put a years worth of wear on you bike.
I am damm sure one blows up every once in a while.
Just my thoughts.

I just had my 2012 SG Dynotuned after installing a set of TW-555 Cams. I tried using the map that Jamie sent to me and the bike ran okay, but the Dynotune made a huge diff.

This is my opinion only, & of coarse I could be wrong. But I think with a PC or PV with Auto tune you would get a better running bike in the RPM range normally run and normal usage throttle position. Providing one has the knowledge to use the Auto tune & PC or PV.
I may not have the ability myself but I have seen enough other people that have had a Dyno tune & then use this method to acquire a better running machine in normal riding situation. Then wish they had saved there money from the Dyno. I am hoping with some help I will be able to use the Auto tune.

A good map and a good autotune are nice and theres nothing wrong with them but if you get a dyno tune, you'll know the autotune is not as good. Thats my opinion...

I did not see Vtune? With tts mastertune and a little patience you can get within 5% of a great dyno tune.

I did not vote because none of the choices were close to my thinking.

That said, I would probably dynotune if I were racing. But for street riding on a touring bike, I could care less about a few extra hp that I may or may not get from dynoing. All tuners (the person) are not equal.

For me and my street bikes, I'm perfectly happy with my PCIII on my Duece, and my PCV w/AutoTune on my Tourer. I'd like to retrofit an A/T on the Duece, but it's ran good enough all these years that I can't really justify the expense.

When I had my '06 Road Glide built into a 95" the builder did dyno with the SERT that was already on it.
20,000 miles later it was still running strong.

Still on the fence whether to dyno my new bike.

Keep in mind that the Autotune does not adjust timing and a considerable amount of power can be left on the table if it is not adjusted.
