Default 54 mpg???

Is anyone getting the advertised 54 mpg with their 11 or newer 96 Ultra? How about even close? I am averaging 36 mpg... I do not ride like a mad man nor a puss, just your average rider.

On my 03 RKC I was averaging 45 mpg with the 88 and that was riding 2 up the majority of the time. I don't care if I ride 2 up or solo I am getting 36 mpg. I could go farther on my 5 gal tank than I can on my 6 gal tank. I am getting tired of pulling up to the pump every time I ride...

It doesn't sound too far off to me, perhaps a couple mpg but not much..
Performance costs...no doubt about it..
How fast do you want to go?

I have the SE air cleaner kit and the stage 1 download. Running the stock head pipe with CAT and Rush Big Louie Slipons with 2.5" baffles.

It not about going fast it's about going far...farther. I really did not think I made any "performance" mods, certainly nothing more than on my 03 RKC. had same setup on RK just different slipons and no CAT in head pipe.

It's all in the tune. In your case you didn't get one. This is one of the reasons you should dyno tune your bike for YOUR riding habits. I can get 51 MPG if I use cruise control at 55 MPH, averaging 42-46 but, I am a lighter bike and you are pushing more air.

50+ mpg's will never happen, even with a good tune. Also note, running the bike over 2900 rpms in 6th gear will severely impact your gas mileage results.

Yea I know 50+ ain't gonna happen but getting closer to 45 would satisfy. Think Jamie at FuelMoto might have some suggestions?

We just did the Stage I with Rhinehart Tru Duals on our '12 Ultra. We were getting a little better than 50mpg in the Black Hills last weekend. On the return trip across South Dakota in the wind, we were getting in the high 30's running 75-80 mph. Speed makes the difference. Love the 6 gallon tank and the range setting on the odometer.
