I agree. My bikes sweet spot seems to be between 2500-3000 rpm also. For cruising. Above 3000 is hold on power.
I only have a 5 speed, so the extra teeth help spreed out the extra torque and HP I got with the build up.
If you drop 2 teeth you will be way quicker.
Quicker is what I am after. This 6 speed tranny is one of the reasons why I bought this dyna in the first place. It opens up alot of gearing options that weren't really practical with a 5 speed. Not that you can't gear down a 5 speed bike it's just that fuel and range would be affected. I like that the bike can be a light to light beast and still get respectable mileage at highway speeds. I have read about the 30 tooth costing you top end speed but I think with the 6th gear that will bring my revs into the sweet spot of the motor closer to my typical cruising speed(55-65 in 5th and 65-80ish) in 6th. Does anyone know the speed vs rpm with the stock 32 tooth and the 30 tooth sprocket.

The best I have ever gotten was 47 on a 180 mile trip mostly at a steady 60 with a few miles stop and go at the beach and that was 2 up. Typically my interstate riding is 75-80 and get 42-44 solo, my around "town" is 40-42. But I use regular 87 and NO pinging at any RPM or speed.

Is anyone getting the advertised 54 mpg with their 11 or newer 96 Ultra? How about even close? I am averaging 36 mpg... I do not ride like a mad man nor a puss, just your average rider.
On my 03 RKC I was averaging 45 mpg with the 88 and that was riding 2 up the majority of the time. I don't care if I ride 2 up or solo I am getting 36 mpg. I could go farther on my 5 gal tank than I can on my 6 gal tank. I am getting tired of pulling up to the pump every time I ride...

After replaced the stock exhaust and A/c with Fuelmoto power package, I get around 35, or lower gas mileage. Turns out, there was a leak in my exhaust system during the installation. Fixed the leak, and I get around 40 in city, and 45 on highway, even 50 MPG on high altitude. My bike is 2010 103 ci., so your bike should have the same or better mileage than mine.
Hope this help

I am lazy to read all the posts, but I have made an error, so I want to share with you.
