Left stranded by brand new CVO

I wouldn't buy a t-shirt from that dealership.
Regardless of CVO or not, that they still have not pulled the head is rediculous. 50 grand spent in a year and no service. I would have blown a gasket on day three. I would want to see my bike, senior service manager, store manager and a call from the owner.
I stopped buying dealer shirts a long time ago, why should I advertise for them and spend money doing it. Had an issue with a dealer some time ago, after extended runaround, to make it right ,they wanted to give me some free merchandise ( dealer shirt, coffee cup) I told them to keep it.

after just buying my first new thing ever this post makes my stomach hurt.
everything I ever owned was all ****ed up when I got it and running like a mother ****er when I sold it.
never sold a car or bike for less than I paid for it....
My bike breaks down and it's going to be operation "occupy harley davidson"
I'd be bringing my tent and a sleeping bag till its done or they give me a loaner.
hope you at least get a free t shirt out of the deal.
Hope you get some sort of satisfaction even though I cannot even imagine what would make up for this.

I agree that some sort of priority service should have been offered. I also think right from the start that telling you to use your HOG towing was out of line. And last, but not least is the loaner/rental, should have been offered to you as soon as they knew it was not going to be a simple issue.
And for those that think that a new bike with issues should not get priority service, what do you think would happen if he was in the process of buying this bike and wanted something done before he would buy it? Yup, right to the front of service to make the sale....

If the dealer's busy, they could have all the certified mechanics dedicated to jobs and short of pushing someone else's ride off to the side to work on yours, you might have to wait for someone to get free. An overnight wait isn't bad.
As for 'taking it well', what else are you supposed to do? Short of venting to make yourself feel better (and **** everyone else off--which is of no advantage to you, you can be sure) the best thing to do is put a good face on things, and see how they treat you. It's unfortunate that such an expensive bike failed, and did so so soon after you took delivery. But it's kind of luck-of-the-draw, chance.
If it were me, I wouldn't feel as if I'd been treated poorly. Yet. If they get right on it in the morning, as promised, and unless there's a major problem, get you down the road by the end of the day, I would take it for what it's worth--a new bike with a small problem that was fixed promptly.

To the OP. I thank you for your service and I admire your level headed handling of this situation. Your references to the many things to be grateful for in your first post speaks to your character and I think when this is resolved you will be more than satisfied. It sucks to wait in line, no matter what the situation or the cost, we all do it, some better than others. Cost of the bike aside, i HAVE SPENT A LOT AT MY LOCAL DEALER, AS MANY OF US HAVE. ALL I ASK IN RETURN IS FAIR AND EQUAL TREATMENT. Sounds like so far you are getting that, albeit a bit slowly...

I also thank you for your service and agree that other bikes in for repairs or service should not have been slighted, however the dealership should have paid OT to have a mechanic work over and get the problem diagnosed and repaired.
Harley Davidson can treat people like crap because if they were to **** you off, and you were to leave Harley, there is a line of people willing and waiting to be treated like crap, even at dominatrix ***** type prices.

Couple of things to keep in mind.
1. It is warranty work. That means the dealer gets paid the same irregardless of when it is finished, so their is no need in their eyes to hurry it through.
2. You're not pushing them to work on it, so there is no pressure to prioritize your work, so they let it sit, as it is a job that can't be taken to another dealer, as it is already underway. Bodyshops do this all the time, they start a job so it can't be moved, then juggle it with other projects.
3. Losing a cusotmer? These days, businesses don't think like that. They will worry about your future business later down the road.
You really only have a few options at this point.
1. Demand a replacement engine
2. HAve one fo the wrenches fix it, and pray to God he knows what he is doing
3. Demand a new bike.
But, I can tell you from personal experience, the patience you are showing is allowing them the ability to screw you long term, and will get you shoved tot he back of the bus.
If it were me, I'd demand a new bike or a new engine. I wouldn't want a hillbilly band-aid on my new 40K bike.

I would have them get the bike back to stock, and get the heck out of there. No way in heck would I want a dealer with so little appreciation for a good customer doing anything in the way of engine mods.
And guess what happens when those engine mods screw up something else on the bike ...
"That's not under warranty."
Get the bike back to stock and get out of there.
