1000 mile service which oil to use

There was an interesting article in American Iron +/- 6 months ago on this topic.
Donny Peterson's opinion was that the sulpher in dino oil assists in the curing process of the pistons, cylinders, etc., and is therefore,a better oil to use for the first 5000 miles.
After 5000 mi. synthetic is a good solution, especially for extreme (hot) conditions.
I will go with Donny's recommendation.

For every 100 stories that say don't use synthetic there are 100 stories that say it's fine. This topic has been beaten to death on several forums with no real facts only theories. This whole sulphur thing is just another theory. I'm pretty sure what ever oil you personally decide on will be just fine.

I wouldnt run redline for the first 5000 miles, I think from memory that the manufacturers of Redline suggest this, and if a compant is trying to stop you from using their product I suspect its correct.
I ran Hd dyno oil upto 1000 and the Syn3 to 5000, then switched to redline.

First of all, it is my belief that any curing, seating, breaking-in, etc., of the motor is going to occur long before you hit 1,000 miles. At that point, I run synthetic. It will run cooler, and the viscosity won't break down as fast as dino oil will. Thus, you can go further between changes unless you're running nothing but city, stop and go, traffic.
