Default 18" front 16" rear a good combo?

I have been tossing around putting some rims on my 07 sg. I was thinking 18 on the front and 16 on the rear. Anyone run this combo and think this is a bad idea? Also what sizes would I need? I see 18 x 3.5 but what about the 16 on the rear? Thanks

Not sure when it started but at least since the '09 frame change, the Street Glide has come from the factory with 18" front and 16" rear.

Front: 130/80B18 63H
Rear: 180/65B16 81H

RollaMo is right. Touring frames changed in '09.
The '08 SG has 16" front and 16" rear. The '09 has 17" front and 16" rear.

O, didnt know that obviously. I thought they had 18"s front and rear. I know my rear is not a 180. I guess I was just wondering the rim sizes I would need for an 18 f and 16 r for an 07 street glide

Why would it be a bad idea?

The handling won't change much/at all since the overall diameter of the tire is the same on the 16 and the 18 its just a lower profile

Some will say that he ride is a little rougher with the lower profile tire but having gone from the 16/17 combo to 18/18 myself I can say that its only a small difference barely noticeable and really the issue is more one of a crappy stock suspension rather than tire profile.

I have 18 front and 16 rear on an 08 Road Glide, if I remember - 18X3.5 front and 16X3.5 rear. You should be the same. The newer-09 and up are 16X5 rear. Won't work for me or you.

18 x 3.5" for the front with either a 130/70-18 or a 140/70-18
16 x 3.5" for the rear with either a MU85-16 or a 150/80-16

We have used these combos a bunch of times with great results so you will not notice much of a difference in terms of the quality of the ride.
