Got to luv the Knowledge here. I am leaning on Keeping the 2 ohm J&M's and adding the J&M 4 channel, any suggestions on a good set of 5x7 at 2 ohm that will fit in the Harley Speaker lids for the rear?
I'm running the Hogtunes 40.4 amp. It has 4 channels at 40 watts per. I got pulled over by a cop a couple weeks ago for having my stereo up too loud. I figure it's putting out plenty of power.
The RF PBR300X4 WILL NOT work with 2 ohm speakers.
I wanted to use Polk MM691 speakers but they are 2.7 ohms. I called Rockford Fosgate and thet said to only use 4 ohm speakers with the PBR300X4.
Check-out the package that those speakers come in; it probably says "4 ohm compatible;" at least the MM 2.7 impedance speakers I saw on the shelf of a local car audio shop said so, but I don't recall if they were 6.5" or 5x7 speakers which are both rated as 2.7 impedance.
I just got a 2010 RG with a stock Satellite radio and amp and speakers I think. With the 16" windshield I can pretty much hear it at highway speeds, although I'm sure it would be way better with a better amp and speakers.
Curious though, if I do go for an upgrade to one of the suggested amps/speakers, will I be able to hear the radio if I put the 5" windshield back on?

You will be VERY happy with that J&M four channel, I am running the Arc KS125.4 which is the same amp but uses standard RCA jacks / power blocks instead of pigtails. The J&M will be easier to install.. Installing the Arc is difficult to say the least. Both amps produce an enormous amount of clean power and running 2Ohm speakers it will SLAM...
As for the 5x7 lids.. Forget those.. Either run a set of lower fairings and put some 6.5" or 7" speakers in them or look at the 6x9 lids from Yaffee and Kuryakin... You can get Infiniti Kappa 693.9i's in 2Ohm...
FYI The new Arc four channel is the XDI 804.. It is three inches shorter, .4 inches taller and .7 inches deeper than the KS125.4... I think the .4" taller could be a deal breaker for the batwing install. It'll certainly work with a roadglide.. I might have to try mocking one up to see if it'll squeeze.. if it wasn't so much work to route cables and such for the KS125.4 I'd have already gone down to the Arc dealer and done it.
