2004 FLHTP Major Face Lift

Trying to figure out what I want to do about the bags... If I want to just buy the extensions and mold them on, install flush mount buttons instead of the hockey puck style presently on, man up big time and purchase all the hardware to convert to civilian style hardware $$ Decisions, decisions...

Look online for spherical rod ends,5/16 24 female on the stock rod, you will never have to mess with it again.
Well ran into my first issue today, was driving the bike and the linkage came off my shifter controls I took a picture to see if anyone could help and let me know if something broke. I can slip the linkage back onto the ball, but it wont stay. Not sure why this happened or what the fix is. Any help is appreciated.
And obviously this is how it should be
Luckily I managed to put it back on and make it home.

Fixed the linkage, I actually ended up having one of those spherical ends from my forward controls that came on my sportster. Threw it on the rod and finished it off with a nut, bolt and lock washer.
Not too too much going on, I ordered a head unit, component set of speakers (as I only have the gas/volt gauges) I am going to run tweeters in the 2 blank spots. I bought SG front signals/brackets off a member here, (scooter trash 1) which might I add was an excellent transaction. Paid, item shipped next day and then I had them 2 days later I also picked of some manuals from a guy off craigslist for 2004 touring models, I bought the electrical, diagnostic and parts books. All for $75, which I thought was a great deal considering what they go for at the dealer each. Saved around $80 and they are all in great shape.
I decided that I will be going with bad dads stretched bags as well as their rear fender cover with frenched plate. I am working with a local authorized dealer that is getting me a deal on them
That is basically it for now, not too much going on. Just trying to get a few parts together before I start taking it apart. No need to disassemble yet if I don't have anything to do.

Stretched bags and rear fender cover paid for and ordered from bad dad. Kinda hurt the ol wallet
My radio and component set of speakers came in. I am still trying to decide if I want to add the oil and air temp gauges or run without. If I run without them, I will install the tweeters in the blank spots. If not, I will be drilling and mounting them elsewhere. Decisions decisions, I can't wait for the call saying my fender and bags are ready to be picked up!!! Also ordered there stainless plate frame.
I guess this is one of the larger expenses out of the way. The other few are the front wheel/tire, front fender, handlebar set up and seat. After that it will be all the small stuff that is going to add up, but make the bike tie all together.

Bags and fender were delivered today. While I went to pick them up, I ordered a few more things. The HD clear style headlight, found on the newer SG's and the correct lower saddlebag bracket supports so I don't have to run the saddlebag guards. Will be adding some pictures soon, I know all this reading is boring.
The bike is on the lift now for the rest of the year until spring of next year. Fairing, front fender, front wheel and saddlebags have been removed.
Pics to come soon
