Default progressive shocks

Any of you running progressive shocks,if so how do you like them? Here in the NorthEast,we have some major road obstacles, potholes sinkholes over culverts, etc. My stock RK shocks hit hard, was hoping for a softer ride.

Progressive 440's provide a nicer ride than the stock HD shocks.

Progressive 440's have no rebound dampening and clunk (teeth jarring) when they top out.

I have never had any clunk whatever from the set I've run for the last two years,

The ride is awesome(WAY WAY better than HD air shocks)

To elaborate a little, I ride an 04 ROADKING CUSTOM

The Custom came stock with 12" Harley lowered air shocks. With those awful shocks it rode like a stagecoach. I could not believe how rough it rode regardless of air pressure.

My old 01 Heritage had a MUCH smoother ride which was not what I was expecting from a "touring bike"

I bought the Custom new, & after two weeks of being beaten half to death by those shocks I knew something had to change. On the advice of someone on the CVO message board(the CVO Electraglides came with those same crappy shocks) I ordered a set of 12" standard spring 440's. The difference in ride quality from that swap was night & day, the bike immediately bacame a true pleasure to ride. I no longer had to studiously avoid every bump & expansion joint in the road similar to riding my old rigid frame Shovel. On the CVO board, there are MANY MANY people using & highly recommending the Progressive 440's.

I recently swapped the 440's for the Draggin Bagger air setup thinking that would allow me to lower the bike at parking lot speeds(I am only 5'6" with short legs)& still have a smooth ride out on the road. That is not really the case however, the height adjustment works just fine but the ride is noticeably rougher & I'm not totally happy with it. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case with any of the air ride setups the more I research it. I know a guy with the Hi-Lo setup & it rides just like my DB setup, & I got an email from another guy late last night running the Legend setup. His comment was "I love my setup, but I can't really describe it as a cushy luxurious ride -it is definitely a harsher ride than a good quality standard shock setup)

When I get time, I will probably reinstall the 440 shocks.

Love my 440's. I swapped out my lousy stock 12" Street Glide shocks for a set of 12" 440's (standard spring) and have been happy ever since. They definitely provide a superior ride.
