Default Cleaning laced wheels.....

I'm wondering if there's some sorta trick to cleaning these laced wheels especially the rear one...I've got a bike that I keep as clean as I can but my wheels need some help....so I figure there must be some sorta trick that people have found that works....
Thanks ahead for all the suggestions....

Keep the brake dust to a minimum with Lyndall Z-plus pads. Spray on wheel cleaner/wheel brush & elbow grease for cleaning.

Nothing makes cleaning a bike easier than a good set of brushes. I use 4 different sizes. For the spokes I use Spraynine cleaner, put the bike on a stand so that I can rotate the wheels. I use a long brush for the spokes and a short one for the hub (between the spokes and barke caliper/rotor.

I've been looking for a trick for 5 years. Brushes and time is all I have found. I do a complete clean and wax every winter on the spokes and that helps keep them spray off clean for about 10,000 kms, then it's back to scrubbing with the angled brush.

the words 'easy', 'clean' and 'spokes' arent synonymous.

the rear wheel is the worst part about cleaning my bike.... BUT- when its clean- it was worth it

A bike Jack/lift is a nessesary if you plan on keeping your laced wheels clean, good coat of protectant, I use a two step cleaner polish, Metal polish/metal gloss, pain to do it twice, but I feel that it looks better, and is much easier to clean. The I just wipe them down with a micro fiber cloth after or before every run, takes about 15 minutes to do with the lift, and they look great! But the main thing is getting the bike to a height that is easy for you to clean the spokes. Sears offers a good lift for this, I use one I got from Habor Freight for about $50 on sale.

I always hated trying to clean the spokes on my Sportster, but I did find a neat little trick that sped it up a little. First give the wheel a good wash with whatever you usally use, then I take an old rag and cut it into 1 or 2 inch strips length ways. Wrap one around the spokesand slide it back and forth up and down the spoke. This worked great for me, hope it helps you out. And like everyone else said, get a lift this helps even more.

Go to http://www.hawgwash.com and buy the EZ-Detailer and BlackFire Gel wheel cleaner. The EZ-detailer works great, just put the bike up on a jack and spin the wheel. I use 2 EZ-Detailers, 1 for the wheels, and a seperate 1 for the engine.

There is no easy way to clean them! Had them on my 05 and they looked awesome, pain to clean. As others have said get a lift.

I use a 'Sears' brand lift....on sale for $60. (usually $99.)

This has made a big difference in getting the job done right. Good luck.
