Default Metallic Clicking Noise

Took a nice ride to Organ Mountain Wilderness area in NM today. While riding under power I noticed a metallic clicking noise coming from the engine area. I noticed it while cruising at a steady speed. If I hit the throttle hard it would go away, but as soon as I got back to steady cruising there it was again. Any Ideas on what could be causing this, or am I just paranoid? Thanks.

P.S. I have a 2011 Ultra Limited

My 2011 sounds like it wants to fall apart sometimes......it appears that is just the nature of these recent HD engines

I had a strange noise also. Put it on the jack and it turned out to be a loose bolt that anchors the seat strap on the right side and also clamps in the side bag front mount. Tightened it up and son of a bitch it came back. Little LockTite and that took care of it. Check all bolts on the frame first.

Welcome to Harley engine noise. But as was mentioned, I'd also check for loose bolts, just as a precaution.

Been fighting same thing. Even got to talk to HD they moved me up to eng dept. Nice guy. Said it was normal. I say normal but not acceptable. Not for $21000 bucks. Evo 14yrs old twice as quiet. If my back hadnt got tired of softail I probably should have kept it. 2011 ultra engine noise terrible.
