My Indy recommended Baisley. We talked about it for awhile, and his first choice is always Baisley's. I got the roller rocker tips, heads, and throttle body all done by Dan. The bike runs very well, pretty much spot on what he told me I'd be getting for power.

I don't know if it makes any difference who you send the heads to, as long as it's a good shop. All good shops will spend time and flow the heads, as well as see how they work in real world builds. There wasn't a single shop you listed that I would be "afraid" of. Pick one and go for it!

I had Bean at Big Boyz do my heads. Did a great job and will answer any question you have and explain everything in detail. Give him a call and ask away.

The title of this thread made me think about BJs, too. Guess we're both jaded.

I had my work done by Tom Riser @ TMan performance. I have been to his shop which is spotless. He inspects all work including building your engine himself and will work with you to ensure you get the right headwork or engine build to meet your needs. He has a dyno shop next door.

He also eats sleeps and breaths speed and power. His father was a motorcycle mechanic and drag racer using a Sportster and Tom has set a land speed record on a touring bike @ Bonneville

I used Lozano Bros. in New Braunfels, Tx. They're good, there may be better. Don't used NHRS from Colorado. Ruined a set of heads for me!

I don't believe Fuel Moto does head work. I believe they use Hillside for that work, at least they have in the past. Outside of them, all of the places you list above have a great reputation. My only advice is to talk to them about what you want in an engine build. None of them are going to sell you a set of heads without knowing the rest of your build. Both T-Man and Headquarters have piston and cams specifically matched to their headwork. To get the best results, stick with their package. Hillside, Dewey's, and Bishops, seems to be able to match a set of heads to just about any cam on the market.

Bottom line is, listen to them. The heads need to compliment the cam, compression, throttle body, exhaust, etc. I know Hillside, T-Man, and Dewey's are all very willing to talk about your needs on the phone. Probably others on that list as well with the exception of Headquarters. Only way to contact them is through their chat group thing or through Pro-Twin website. Baisley needs to be on that list as well.

We actually do 100% of our head service in house. Last winter when we started doing heads we brought in James (Jim) Monson to run the cylinder head program and he has proved to be an valuable asset to Fuel Moto. He has been porting heads for over 20 years, he has actually done head development for several OE race race teams, and was the lead instructor for the engine performance program at MMI for several years and on top of it he is an avid enthusiast and racer. We have a Superflow flowbench, Serdi valve equipment, a huge library of porting equipment, and all of our head patterns are fully tested on the dyno.

Wow, I'm pleasantly surprised to see so many recommends for Dave Mackie. West Coast guys have known about him for a long time, but back east, not so much. I've been running his heads for years. Now there is no doubt that there are a lot of very competent shops doing excellent work. Several have already been mentioned. It would be silly to say one is the best overall. I like Dave's work because his heads are simply beautiful when they come back. He uses quality parts and when used with his pistons and cams you have a proven combo. All the parts work together for max results. My old 95" Mackie Megasphere outperforms other 95' and 103 " builds guys I ride with have.

I would not use bishops if they were the last place on earth. My buddy had his bike done by them, 6000 miles later his wrist pin seized. Back to bishops it went for build number 2, another 6 grand and 7 months later he got the bike back. With a break in tune on it. Rode it for a month to get his break in miles for final dyno tune and called them up. Was told he was next in line for dyno time, that was 3 months ago and he has called them numerous times only to be blown off. And they still have his key for the tuning system he uses which is direct link that hardly anyone around this area uses. My advice stay away from them!
