Default replacing gas gauge and cap???

I want to replace my gas gauge and cap on my Road King Custom with a pair of low profile caps. I don't use the gas gauge anyway so.....Could some of you that have already done this steer me in the right direction? Was it a big deal to remove and replace the left side gas gauge? Thanks for any feedback.

I it is the same set up as the softails, the stock guage is just a press fit. I replaced the stock fuel guage with Harley's original LED guage, it was a piece of cake. Just pull out the old, push in the new. There is an electrical connection you have to unplug, can't remember if it is under the guage of under the tank.

Thanks man, I appreciate the info but I was really wanting just to go to an aftermarket type flush mount cap mabey even one of the pop up type. I'm not sure if they just "pop" in like the Harley replacement parts. Any one else with aftermarket caps?

Have you seen the flush mount ones from Harley (62823-06) ? Very nice, and the left one has LED gauge.

There is nothing sweeter or easier than the harley caps vanillagorilla mentioned. You can't beat the look. All those "pop" up caps leak anyway.
