Default Annoying Squeak

I have an annoying squeak at idle. Sometimes it doesnt do it, but it seems to do it more when its cold. It almost always does it when holding the front brake down. Im thinking it might be a motor mount. Its coming from the transmission area.... The bike is an 01 Road King with 65k on it. Do these motor mounts go bad? Could it be anything else?

Thanks,

Cory.

Yes the motor mounts can go bad. Not saying that is where the squeak is coming from, but definitely a place to look.

..at idle is where the motor does the most shaking...so check those parts that are moving the most..especially the entire exhaust system everywhere there is a connecting joint, or a clamp on it...and like Dawg said...could be a motor mount..check air cleaner assembly too, they can get loose...good luck

I had a squeak, cured it by spraying the rubber portion of the upper motor mount with WD40

Check your rear exhaust/muffler hangers. Easiest and quickest way to check them is to have the bike idling and place your foot on each muffler in turn and see if the squeak stops. That was once my problem.

Check your heat shields too. If you have a rubber mallet, gently tap around fasteners in the area the squeak seems to be coming from and maybe you'll get lucky.

+1 on the rubber muffler mount. A shot of WD40 (temporarily) cured the problem. And keep shooting WD40 on rubber mounts until it stops.
