Default RE: Exhaust Gasket Question

I just received a response from Supertrapp, and they told me that I can use either gasket I want with the exhaust.

So I'm going to try out the SE gaskets since I have them now. If there are any leaks, I'll deal with it after.

LOL..............wanna buy a nice set of Rineharts?

If I'm going tp spend $1400 on the motor, I might was well try and get all the power out of it.

'm getting ready to install a Supertrapp 2-1 system on my bike. In the instructions it says to use regular stock HD gaskets only. Has anyone used the SE gaskets with a Supertrapp 2-1?

I have a brand new pair of SE gaskets, and was planning on using them with the exhaust. But after reading the instructions, I'm left wondering if the SE ones will work or what the reason for them saying stock only.

Any help would be appreciated.

Steve
Use the S.E. or Cometic, the stock gaskets interfere with flow.

Well the SE gaskets didn't work out to well, they leaked at both heads.

So off came the exhaust, and in went the stock HD gaskets from my top-end gasket set that I bought for my engine build. I tightened them just enough to be snug, so hopefully the gaskets didn't crush down much at all.

Supertrapp was right..............use the stock tapered HD gaskets.............LOL.

Well I only started it up quickly to check for leaks...............so I really can't say much about the sound. But what I did hear sound good to me...............deep, allot quieter then the Rineharts, and no raspy or tinny.

Looks.............it looks great. Fit & Finish are top notch. I really like how the heatshields fit together, nice and tight with no seams.

Friday I'll be taking it out for a ride..............so I'll report back then.

You'll find that they may loosen up after it gets hot. I torqued my flanges per the spec and method in the service manual. I fired up the bike and let it run for about 3 - 4 minutes and let then let it cool. Found all of them were loose and required another go around with the torque wrench. Heck even the clamp at the transmission had loosend up.

I wouldn't worry about it, as long as they are correctly installed the stock gaskets do not restrict flow at all.

I have always used the stock gaskets with mine, I recently had the exhaust off & there was no restriction whatever with my ported heads.
