RK or RKC?

RK or RKC?
Trying to decide between the two. My wife and I do a lot of traveling in the summer on a motorcycle. Which do you all think is the best for touring or does it make any difference? The plus of the Roadking to me are the tubeless tires and it looks like it has a better passenger seat. I like the overall looks of the Classic better and the cruise control but I figure the spokes are going to need more care and and may need an aftermarket seat. Was also wondering if the hard bags on the RK will hold more than the bags on the Classic. We have sat on a Classic but haven't on a RK. I am 5'8 and the Classic fit me ok. Was also wondering if I would have to lower the RK? I know the specs say the driver seat is higher.

RE: RK or RKC?
I may be a bit biased here, but I would prefer the RKC over the regular RK. Some of the reasons (for me) would be the leather bags and the cruise control!
The Road King standard does not come with a cruise control (but can be added by the dealer). Plus, the leather bags are a bit more flexible and can be overstuffed if required. I also like the one-piece saddle on the RKC over the two-piece on the RK.

RE: RK or RKC?
my choice was the RK standard, I love the lockable bags, and they are waterproof the classics are not. I did add the cruise control. As far as seat most people change the seat any way. I had spokes on my other bike and just hated them, so the mags were a must have. Some day I wat to send them out and be cromed, i have to stop that i just get exicted thinking about it.........Got to go just thinking about that I must go spend some quality time with my Rk...Bye

The main advantage the Standard has is the lockable bags. Thats all I can think of. As Kahuna said they can be overstuffed on the Classic. As for the Leather bags not being waterproof I have not had that problem and I have rode a lot in the rain(not by choice. The cruise is a must have as is the fuel injection. I really don't have a big issue with the spokes. They clean up pretty easy. I think it comes down to you and what you like and don't like. When I saw my RKC I knew I was riding it home. Good luck!
