Default Crash Bars Saved My Butt

Riding down a country road in midstate California on Sunday, I pickup truck goes through a stop sign right across my path. My choice was to T-Bone him or yank on the brakes. I chose the latter. The bike went down on to the crash bars. I picked up the bike and there wasn't even a scratch.

Wow! Nice job and glad you were able to walk away. After something like that
I wouldn't have cared what the bike looked like, I'd just be glad I'm still alive.

How was the front fairing and saddlebag on that side? Did the guards hit the ground before those could?
