Is 2 is better then 1 ?

From a practical standpoint (and I'm NOT a very practical kinda guy) I'd ask why you were looking at a touring bike? If it's because you're planning on doing more touring, want to be able to haul more, have a better ride, ect, then maybe you really don't want to keep your old bike. If you're trying to collect bikes and you can see yourself riding both equally or close to it, then I'd buy used and keep both.
As for me, I can only ride 1 bike at a time and instead of having to insure 2 bikes, perform maintenance on 2 bikes and the like, I'd go with 1 bike and unless you're hell bent on getting new, I'd buy a used 2009 or later. Just my .02 worth.

For sure 2 bikes
I would never go down to one. I bought a 2011 RK to replace the little Dyna I bought a year ago to compliment my Goldwing. Found the Dyna just too small and very harsh in the ride dept so got a good deal on a trade for the RK and now I have a great bike for small tours and going uptown and my Goldie for bad weather and long hauls. Keep the softie. If the prices up here in Canada were remotely close to yours down there I'd have 4 bikes, haha.

I've only got the Road Glide now, but at one time I had an 83 FXR, a 90 FLHS and a 92 FLSTF. ( Sport bike, Touring bike and Bar Hopper )
But back then you could sell a bike for close to what you paid for it, and insurance didn't cost anywhere near what they're getting today. I don't think I could justify more than one for me now, and I think I have the right one if I'm going to have just one.
In fact. my friend at work is supposed to go the the dealer today and trade in both an '03 FLSTF and a '00 FLHTCUI for a '12 FLHR. Insurance was what bugged him the most.
