Default WO518 vs. WO513 for Road King

Looking at either the WO518 RKII bars or the WO513 8.5 mini-apes for my newly acquired RK. Anyone have experience with both? I have not been able to find either on a bike locally or at a dealer. Just been going off Wild1's website.

For those with either... did you have to extend your wires or cables?

No one has used the Wild 1's 518 or 513?

I've got the WO 513's on my RK. I chose them over the much liked Heritage Bars only because 1) they were thicker, 2) they were already set up for internal wiring and 3) they line up the forks when looking at the bike from the side while the position was similar to the Heritage Bars. Basically, it seems that the 513's had more pullback.

As far as cable length, I recall that I chose to go with +1 inch on both the brake and the clutch cable. I do remember speaking to the WO rep who stated that the stock cables would be fine. I just chose to extend the cable "just in case."

Hope this helps!

I had 518's. Too much wrist angle for me. Not as bad as 508's. I test rode a Roadking awhile back with 515's (10") They were sweet. Same wrist angle as the 513's.
Either one would be sweet. Better than 518's in my humble opinion.

I had the 518s on an 07 and loved them. The factory bars that year put e heck of a pain between the sholders on anything over 250 miles. With the 518s I could run all day. The look was great on my RKC.

Default Wo 513

I was looking for a bar with a bit more reach & height for my 08 SE Road King. The wrist angle on the SE stock bars was pretty good but a little low and too far forward after I mounted my C&C solo seat.

I tried a bike with the 518 RK II. I liked how they came back but the wrist angle was too much for me to keep my hands flat on the grips. I like a more "knuckles in the wind" angle.

I was hesitant to try the Wild 1 513 Chubby Baby Apes as I am not "big" on the ape look. JMO. I took a chance and had the 513 put on. I have been very pleased with them. No need for different cables, the reach is right where I want it and the wrist position is perfect. If I have a negative on them, I'd make em about 2" narrower but now I've adjusted. I have around 20,000 miles on with these bars. No regrets.

Couple of pics for ya.

Thanks for the replies. I am leaning towards the 513's.

I have had the 513's on my FB / WG / RG and I have had the 517's on my RG... I Loved the 513's on all three bikes but on the RG my arms were a little short so I got the 517's very simular to the 518's IF you have short arms. the 517's are good if not the I think you would like the 513's... The others have a very different "Feel" I put them on and rode around the block... wow, they did feel different... I was getting ready to ride from CA to Gerogia and back... decided to leave them on.. By the time I got back to CA.. I LOVED them...

We are all different, good luck..

I have the RKII's and I like them for me...not too much wrist angle like the full "WheelBarrow" effect. I have short arms. Took a little getting used to...but much better than the stock bars. Everything extended out (barely) to fit....but really should have gotten +1 or +2 on the front brakes and throttle cables. (when I upgrade to chrome.....will do)

Now I am very comfortable with them.

I also have cruise control and a throttle boss.

I have 518's on my 05 RK, put em on when bike was new, very happy w/ them. I installed 4"+ throttle cables & 6"+ brake line, I think that's WildOnes recommendation.
