Throttle issues
I have an 09 Streetglide and had the weirdest thing happen last night. Left the house and not 100 yrds the check engine light came on and the throttle died, nothing, nadda..bike idled, but the throttle was inopperable. putted back to the garage, let it sit for 5 min or so and started it back up, check engine light came back on for 5 sec and went out, but the throttle was working.
Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what did you have to do to repair or did it need to be repaired?

If you are inclined, take the plug that goes into the Throttle Body actuator and clean it out with some contact cleaner and use some q-tips , all the while being very gentle, then after that use some dielectric grease inside the plug and plug it back in. If you have to ask too many questions, get a service manual, if that doesn't answer your questions, take the bike to a mechanic. My bike did the same thing and this cleared it up.

This just happened to me on my 08 FLHR w/60k. It is connector fretting due to excessive vibration. I had to replace the crimp pin between the ECM and the throttle acuator. I think it was purple/black wire. There is service bulletin TT418 out for this. Check for any diagnostic codes.

Mine also fretted on the ECM terminal so I had to replace it as well.

I had this problem with my 10 FLHX... they HD dealership blamed the plug talked about in the above post... they cleaned it greased it and yep that worked for about 800 miles. The next time this happened they tried everything and they ended up putting in a new ECM... so far 1000 miles later... no problems. I posted a thread about this... I will try to find it and post a link so you can read the same thing others have experienced.

Here is my thread... hope it helps narrow down your issue as it could be several things.

I also had the Fuelpak which really doesn't fit under the seat very well. It push the ECM connector against the frame which IMO help cause some of the problem. I removed the FP and it was worked ok with just the stage 2 download for about 5k miles and then completly failed. Cleaning and grease may work for a while but it is fretting on the gold plated terminals which increases the resistance at the connection. The increased resistance puts the voltage read by the ECM outside of the small voltage range for the TPS (throttle position sensor).
Automotive connectors had the same problem a few years ago. Most have grease at critical connections now to help reduce this issue.
