Default The difference between a 95 and a 96 up flhr?

Hi everyone, need to pick your brains.

Looking for some new grips and chrome handlebar switch housings. Now... everywhere i look the fitment is for 1996 and up! whats the difference between the 1995 and 1996> Flhr?

Would appreciate your input

the later have the "rounded' control housings and switches, 1995 was the last year for the square style

slight frame change and fairing change too going into 1996

Thanks for the info Mike.

So i guess if i changed it all, as in the control housings and grips to a post "96" model then it would all fit together?

Cheers

yes, how are you with wiring?.

--- I'm sure you can find 95 controls in chrome from one of the catalogue houses- have you looked?

on ebay I saw this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1984-...item2eb7402fc5

although the brake is wrong

but the right stuff exists- just gotta look.

and maybe easiest to have stuff sent to a pal in the US, then have them mail it over as Xmas gift

Hi Mike.

Yes i have looked for the switch housings etc to fit the "95" RK but all i see over here is the inferior Chinese items or the genuine things but for later years. The other problem i find with the controls etc is that the brake master cylinder is only for a single disc instead of the dual setup.
But you are right it is just a case of being patient and keep on looking.

Thanks again

Lee

Forgot to say, yes im ok with wiring so shouldnt be to much of a hassle to swap over. I try to get over to the states at least once a year so il have to try and find something online in the US and time it so it coincides with my visit, get it shipped to where im staying - what are the chances of that???

Cheers

Your style fits 82 to 95. 96 and up are still current. 96 clamp down over the left grip, 95 and earlier need glue. II think the throttle sides are the same however.

Why don't you just get your genuine pieces chromed, and then put them back on yourself?

I had thought of getting mine chromed, to be honest i didnt think it would be so difficult to source the parts that i need for my bike. And to think this quest only started because i couldnt find the grips i wanted for this year!!
