Don't know where I got this but.... It came from someone else..... I have no idea if it applies to your bike....

Here ya go: Have to jumper two pins...need small wire (alligator) clips or the right size female terminal spade, don't let them touch other pins,....radio shack may have.
00-03 HD Codes And Activation:
1. Remove right side saddlebag and side cover if so equipped. Remove protective plug from data link connector. Other models will be under the seat.
2. To activate the diagnostic feature, follow these steps.
a. Create diagnostic test wire or use a female spade clip which will bridge the two terminals perfectly.
b. Install diagnostic test wire/clip across Terminals 1 and 2 on the data link connector, they are marked.
c. Turn Ignition/Light Key Switch to IGNITION and wait approximately 10 seconds (4 seconds lamp ON, 6 seconds lamp OFF) for check engine lamp to start flashing.
3. All trouble codes are sent out as a series of flashes. To retrieve the first digit of the trouble code simply observe the number of times the lamp flashes.
a. The lamp will then flash one or more times to indicate the first digit of the trouble code.
b. The length of time the lamp is illuminated and the length of time in which it is off are each about 0.5 second in duration.
4. The second digit follows:
a. Following the transmission of the first digit, there is a 1.2 second pause in which the lamp is off.
b. The lamp will then flash one or more times to indicate the second digit of the trouble code. Count the number of times the lamp flashes to retrieve the second digit.
5. If more than one trouble code is sent:
a. Following transmission of the second digit of the first code, there is a 3 second pause in which the lamp is off.
b. Once all codes have been sent, the data string is repeated. When you have recorded the same trouble code twice, it is an indication that the transmission has been restarted and that all trouble codes have been retrieved.
IMPORTANT NOTE ..If diagnostic test wire is installed across Pins 1 and 2 on connector in lieu of a Scanalyzer, the ECM is placed in a diagnostic test mode and the engine will start. The test wire must be removed from the data connector and the ignition switch turned OFF or the check engine lamp will continue to flash codes. A historic trouble code resides in the memory of the ECM until the code is cleared by use of the Scanalyzer or a total of 50 trips has elapsed. A "trip" consists of a start and run cycle, the run cycle lasting at least 30 seconds. After the 50 trip retention period, the trouble code is automatically erased from memory (that is, assuming no subsequent faults of the same type are detected in that period). The numbers after the 'historic' or 'current' is the speedo code number, but without the electrical diagnostics manual you're not going to know what they mean.
The code numbers are the numbers that appear in red.

You need both the Service Manual and the Electrical Diagnostic Manual.

The process to retreive the codes is different than that posted by Matt0987. That process is for earlier model years.

The process you need is posted here on the forum somewhere, just have to search. Or give me a few minutes - I'll copy it for you from my Electrical Diagnostic Manual.

Here's the process to retreive trouble codes from the 2011 Touring Models Electrical Diagnostics Manual:

1. To enter diagnostic mode press and hold the trip odometer reset switch while turning the IGN ON.

2. Release the trip odometer reset switch. "diag" will appear on the odometer display.

3. Press and release the trip odometer reset switch. "PSSPtb" will appear on the odometer display.

4. PSSPtb indicates the different modules that could display codes if equipped.
  • P - ECM Codes
  • S - TSM/TSSM/HFSM Codes
  • SP - Speedometer Codes
  • t - Tachometer Codes
  • b - ABS Codes
5. Quickly press and release the trip odometer reset switch to cycle through the letters. The letters will flash as they are selected.

6. Once the corresponding letter is flashing to the desired module press and hold the trip odometer reset switch.

7. If no DTCs are present, "none" will appear on display.

8. If any DTCs are stored in the module, either current or historic, they will appear on the odometer. Quickly pressing and releasing the trip odometer reset switch will cycle through the stored DTCs.

Note: The ECM will show "no rsp" if the engine run switch is not in the RUN position. Verify the engine stop switch is in the RUN position.

9. If the odometer displays "no rsp" then the motorcycle may not be equipped with the module. If the motorcycle is equipped with the selected module then go to other modules and look for applicable communication codes.

10. When all the DTCs have been cycled the odometer will display "end".

11. To clear all the DTCs in that module press and hold the trip odometer reset switch. If DTCs are not to be cleared quickly press and release the trip odometer reset switch. The part number of the module will be displayed.

12. Press and release the trip odometer reset switch again to continue to the next module.

13. Turn the IGN OFF to exit diagnostic mode.

I'm not going to type all of the codes and their definition. You should be able to find them with a search, or start a thread with the codes and I'm sure someone will chime in.

Im subscribing. My 07 RG just started doing that intermittently at 35k. Had the bike in for a drivability issus that was corrected, the dealer told me the security light has nothing to do with engine codes, just the TSSM.
I was also told HD may have come out with an updated software download that I should have HD do, but he told me that will override my 103 build, than I will just have to go back and reflash the 103 build, which will override and new update. Got the ears open now!

Here's what you do..............

Get on bike.

Ride to dealer.

Ask them to fix it.

Your sig says 2011 Road King. Warranty = problem solved
