Extended Warranty by Extra Ride

Extended Warranty by Extra Ride
I could use a little help here. I have a '10 FLHX w/ 21K on it and am considering the extended warranty...probably an additional 5 years. I called my dealer tonight and he told me he has two options:
1. Harley extended warranty which is actually not done by Harley but sub contracted out to a 3rd party.
2. Extra Ride Extended Warranty.
Has anyone ever heard of the Extra Ride? He said there is no deductible (if serviced at his dealership), otherwise, it's $25. It covers everything but wear items (brakes, tires, etc.)
He said he could deal more on the price for the Extra Ride Warranty. They are both around $1800 for 5 additional years. If I get my buddy to sign up w/ me, he'll give me the Extra ride for $1500/5 yrs.
Any thoughts/opinions would be great. For the record, I'm not a wrench...don't really do anything w/ my bike as far as motor, mechanicals are concerned. Just bolt-ons from me.
***If I go w/ the "Harley" warranty, I've heard that some places discount. Does anyone have a name(s) of dealerships that discount the extended warranty?

if you decide to contract (yes these are contracts) with one of these companies, read over the exclusions- it is possible that just bolting on a hi flow air cleaner or changing pipes will void the warranty coverage.
It varies, but you have to read it over.
2.) what happens if the company that collects your money closes it's doors.
many 3rd party warranty companies sold agreements for autos, collected the money and folded--- often the principals would reorganize under another name and sell more policies and...
so buyer beware, read it over be aware of what you are agreeing to---what you HAVE to do to keep the warranty in force- some warranties may require you to purchase supplies or services from only them.
like an insurance company you never know how good they are until you have a claim-- until then they are in the payment collecting business.
cynical outlook I know

I have 6 HD's. Three have went out of warranty. An 07,08 and 09. Never had anything at all with them in the way of dealer repairs. That would have been $4,500 down the rat hole at the $1,500 rate. 8 months on the two 10's. I can say with certainty that they will not need any work. That would be another $3,000 down the same rat hole.
Guess what extended warranty that I got on the two 12's that I added. None. Never will never had. That would have been another $3,000.
That gives a total of of $10,500 for the reduced rate or $12,300 at the regular rate. That just happens to be the cost of the 2010 Dyna Super Glide that I bought. So I got it free by not buying foolish products.
They are not warranties, they are service contracts. Underwriters have massive data on what is likely to happen. Then they set a price that makes them money. It is just like a Casino that is set up to take the majority of money played.
Some make out but the majority do not.
My opinion is if you buy a luxury item like a motorcycle and you can not afford to maintain it then you should not buy it.

Correct, most garage queen owners won't make out. But you're running 10,000 miles per year, ( twice what Harley expects you to run.)
At that pace, the odds are very much in your favor that you will need it, repeatedly.( Just read the forums on 07 and later bikes.)
And all warranties, including HD are negotiable. The dealer's cost should be around $1200 to $1300.
