SE 255 Cams - Cost?
#2
Inner cam bearing puller and installer from Gary Beatty about $95 shipped.
SE255 Cams used with low miles $150 shipped.
New SE tapered adjustable pushrods $165 + tax.
SE inner cam bearings $20.
O-rings for oil pump and cam plate about $5.
Cam cover gasket $8.
Loctite $5.
If you dont have many miles on your lifters they'll be ok. If you dont have a fuel management system you may want one of those and a dyno tune or canned map. A canned map wont be much or you might get one for free. If you dont have a hi flow air cleaner you'll need one of those. I think that covers about everything...

Thanks for the info.I've got a Zipper's Maxflow installed, and have a set of SE Fatshotz on the way. Haven't looked fuel processors yet, was kinda hoping that the Stage 1 download and/or Xied's would do the trick.
I like what I read about the 255's, being a low-mid range improvement on torque.
I wold be getting someone else to do the install, what wondering what I could expect to pay in terms of parts & labour.

I had the 103' kit installed when I bought my 09 Ultra. Came with 255 cams. Those cams creat a lot of cranking PSI and with problems with my compensator sprocket and starter ring gear, eventually ate my left side. Warranty covered it, but not the install of Comp Releases.
If you go to 255 cams, I recommend comp releases.

About 3 years ago, I had 255s put in my Street Bob. The dealer had a "torque special" going on advertised for about 850-900, I think. That covered cams, install labor and remapping the stock module. I already had Rush slip-ons. They warned that the factory module might not have enough for a proper tune, and it turned out needing a Power Commander III and another problem was the muffs had to get re-baffled to get rid of the decel pop that I couldn't deal with. All said and done, probably about 1300 for everything and that was with a sympathetic dealer who sold the PC3 near cost and no charge for the dyno-tune and new baffles from Rush. The bike now has 40k and no probs since. It pulls away strongly even riding 2-up. I'm satisfied with the 255s and can tell you the bike's sweet spot is around 75-80 mph. smooth as glass and a nice cam thump at lower rpms, but nothing noticable at idle. HD advertises the 255 for touring models, so you should be happy if its torque you want.
