Default 13" shock on 2010 Street Glide

Based on my reading here on the forums, It seems a 13" shock on my 2010 street glide will allow it to handle better. Is that true, or should I stick with 12's.

I have a long inseam, so bike height is not an issue, and stance when parked means nothing to me.

In the past on sport bikes I have gone with longer dog bones to bump up the rear end to get the front to tuck a little quicker in tight corners, which I think the same would be true (somewhat) with longer shocks.

Thanks guys!

I installed 13 1/4" rear shocks on my Street Glide and I am very happy with the added increase in rear ride height. The standard length shocks did not offer enough travel, lean angle and the quality of ride was suspect at best. I went with an aftermarket damper and went 1 1/4" longer, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Handling better I don’t know, but they quality of the ride will be much improved.
It will give you more lean angle if that’s a problem for you.

I should have mentioned I am leaning toward a high end Race Tech shock, so handling should improve just by the performance of the shock, if not the ride height.

Thanks!

11.5" 412HD's & 18" Pirelli's - fantastic ride/handling!

I went with 12" Progressive HD 440s when I added a detachable tour pack to my 2010 Road Glide Custom (which comes from the factory set-up just like your SG). Went with the HDs because my wife & I ride 2 up on trips, and the 12" length is perfect for my 30" inseme. I no longer scrape the floor boards when corning, and the ride / overall handling is very much improved.

I just put these on last week. What a night and day difference from the stock shocks.
I am (and more importantly, the wife is) very happy with these.

Premium Ride Hand-Adjustable Rear Shocks
They come in two versions (Standard-Height-13", and lowered 12")
The 12" are standard on the CVO Street Glide.
I went with the 13" for the extra travel. HD Part#: 54000008 - Std. Height

I went with Progressive 940s on my 2009 Street Glide and it made a big difference in ride and handling. Comfortable, not too stiff, not too soft and great for canyon carving too! I highly recommend them!
