So you admit that the charging system puts out more than enough juice to run the headlight and amp, but you want to disconnect it to save power anyway.

Well alrighty then! Why don't ya' just kill the spots?

I'm obviously missing something, is this gonna' be the next fad?

I'm thinking that you probably have an accessory switch on your scooter that you are not using. Just rewire your headlight so that the accessory switch breaks the circuit when in the off position. Problem solved.

+1 on what he said...while you're at it, kill the brake light and turn signals too...go dark or go home..and learn to spell disable too.

If you do not have an accessory switch, add one and do as suggested.

Also, when I turn into my driveway late at night the headlight shines right toward my bedroom window and, even though there are curtains, it lights up the room and wakes my wife. I'd like to be able to avoid that when I work late.

Why, when someone asks a simple question, do so many assume there is a sinister motive behind it?
1. Battery tender will cure the ignition issue
2. Hit the kill switch, turn the ignition switch off(promise it won't lock your bars), coast into the driveway

As for the OP once you get it done, make sure you find the very LEO you can and ask him his opinion on your set-up. Preferably a Motor.

Just bustin ur peach pits guys.

When working on the bike, just pull the lights fuse.
