Default If you looking for speakers try Polk.

Third radio, third set of speakers and added an amp. I finally found a audio specialist that set me up with a good set of speakers.

They are the Polk Audio 6x9" speakers.

http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/db...overview#db691

I have an aftermarket fairing with 6x9" speakers but i have also heard the 5.25" and 6.5" polk speakers and they sound amazing. The best part about them is that they are marine grade. The set was about $150 but once i added them to my setup i instantly noticed the sound was much better and fuller. The main difference is the bass and the middle frequency the sound fills up a city block. I then went back and added some carpet padding and boxed in the fairing this gave me more "thump" and projected the sound toward me better. Now when I am riding and I turn it up (no matter what speed) it hurts my ears and the sound is clear as a bell at all levels. These speakers can also be found at Best Buy.

+1 on the Polk 6x9's. I have the 5.25 up front and the 6x9's in the lids of the bags. Running a Alpine iDA 100M for the head unit and a RF amp under the fairing. So I know what you mean on the sound.

Where did you get your saddle bag lids from?

I agree, the Polk Audio speakers rock! I replaced my Hawg Wired 5.25" with a set of Polk DXI650 6.5" speakers. And as stated above, the sound is much fuller with more bass than before. Sure you can buy a more expensive speaker, but for budget minded enthusiast Polk speakers are awesome.

Default polks

I have the polk dxi 650's in the factory upper fairing spot and custom cut the dxi 6500's into the inner fairing down low on my rg and the xtra tweeters are cut into the factory upper speaker brkt and run with an alpine pdx f4 amp in the right bag with plenty of room for xtras and these speakers sound GREAT. My boss has a sg with hertz uppers and fairing lowers and hertz 6x9 in cycle sound lids all run off one arc amp(i know the impediance/ohms on the amp arent right but hes the gineua pig for the local arc audio rep)and my setup isnt much less than his in sound quality and im into mine for a lot less money. In the end i was trying to say for the money I personally dont think you can get a better speaker than the polk. Just for some extra info I bought my polks off ebay in the best buy outlet store and the were less than 1/2 price compared to store prices and they were just open boxes and the speakers were never mounted in any car/vehicle.

Do you need some kind of adapter for them to fit in place of the Harley speakers? Or do they fit without any modifications?

I was looking at polk when I did my rear speaker pods on my tour pak. The guys at biketronics said that alpine spr 60's took everything that they could throw at them and just kept on ticking. I picked up a pair pretty cheap and they are an excellent quality speaker. One of the few 6.5's that will fit in the speaker pods due to the magnet set up that use. Check them out.
