Default What to think of the fake Electra Glide fairings for metrics.

I'm brand loyal. I believe in the Harley product. Wifee and I own a Street Glide and an Ultra and I hate seeing those fairings on Jap bikes. I know the importance is that they are out riding. But, if We were to ever ride with one I don't think I'd be able to stop looking at it. Most likely I'd say something and Wifee would be giving me the hairy eyeball. I wouldn't be able to resist. Any thoughts?

--------- call that "aspirational"--- they aspire to ride a Harley, and are saving up.

It is kinda funny, but most riders here have come from imports.

What about those guys that put them on Road kings? How about Softails?
Do you feel that way about the old Vetter Fairings? What about other types of fairings?
How about the guys who put sport bike type fairings on Sportsters and Dynas?

I came from a metric bike and thought about turning it into a street glide look alike because I loved the look and couldnt afford a street glide. I finally make enough money to own one and I bought the street glide I always wanted. I never did the mods to my vtx but I understand why someone would do it, these bikes arent cheap.

That's pretty petty IMO. Since BMW was the first production bike with a faring does that mean that Harley has a fake BMW faring.....what a bunch of posers we are

Not sure what your point is, but for me, coming from metrics you are the reason for a lot of the animosity between metric and Harley riders. I ride what I want and don't disrespect anyone for what they ride. That's just the way it is and should be. Does brand loyal mean you should be a dick? I don't think so. And by the way, those fairings for the most part aren't Harley, they are Memphis shades or some other brand. Go ride and

Not everyone can afford to have not one but two HD tourers. And, believe it or not, there are some people who prefer NOT to own a Harley, for whatever reason. Fairings are not proprietary to HD. Having a Metric doesn't exclude anybody from having one on their cruiser. Most are aftermarket makes with only a few actually adapting a HD fairing to their specific model. I've seen some nice looking Japanese scoots with fairings. Really, what difference does it make? Afraid you might wave to one by mistake?

I had a batwing style on my bike back in 71. It is far friom a new trend. Vetter produced Road Glide style frame mounted fairings long before HD.
