Default HD Garage Door Opener / Liftmaster

Has anyone been able to successfully hook up their H-D Garage door opener receiver to a Chamberland Liftmaster garage door opener? My Craftsman died in an electrical storm, and had to be replaced. I also had to replace the H-D receiver. It is programmed correctly and the light blinks when I hit the high beam. The light on my garage door button on the wall also blinks, but the door does not go up or down (it did once) I've connected it up directly to the opener, as well as to the button/switch on the wall, same result. I may have to take back my praise for this thing.

HELP!

Thanks,
mikebaby

I also have a Chamberlain opener although it's a Whisper Drive model, not a Liftmaster, and the HD unit works fine with it.

If your new opener came with a fancy wall switch that does extra stuff just unhook it and try the HD opener again.

Do your openers have the security+ feature? The MoCo told me it was not compatible with Security+ openers.

I did this instead of trying the Harley one. I took one of the extra remotes I had and paired it with the garage door opener on my side of the garage. I removed the battery from the opener and took the cover off. FOund where the button connected to the posts when pressed and soldered them together. The ran two wires from the battery terminals on the opener. Ran the hot wire to the high beam wire on the headlight and the other to ground. Mounted the opener under the fairing and when I flash the highbeams the door opens.

Dennis, were you able to directly connect the hot battery lead without frying the remote circuitry? Do the remotes work off 12v?
I am very interested in doing something similar myself with my aux switch on my RK.
Thanks

Some do. My Genie came with one for the auto, looks just like Dennis's, that uses a 12v batt the size of a double A chopped in half. The one I wired to my intercom push button on the Ultra Classic is a key chain remote that uses a regular double A 1.5v. Left that one with a battery and wired the switch instead of trying to drop the voltage down.

Thanks Mike. I have a Genie also. I have already lost one remote that I kept velcro'd to my shield bracket- fell off on the hwy. This looks like a cheaper alternative than the HD package- not sure if the HD system will work with the newer Genie intelliCode system.
