Default Young for an Ultra?

I get it. The average age of the Harley owner when I bought my 07 Ultra was in the neighborhood of 55. I had been home from Iraq about two years and was heading out the next year and I wanted one. I'm 6 foot 4, so I was limited to what I could ride. She doesn't like the Road Glide or I would've gone that way. But, I love my Ultra. It's black pearl and in an attempt to "young it up" I've blacked out all the lights. I have the removable kit for my tour pack. But when I don't have it. I miss it.
I realize at 38 years old I'm pretty young to have a fully loaded bike. Injuries and height, I am limited. Am I alone? What are some reasons for the bike you chose? I have not the luxury to ride any bike on the show room. Anybody else?

I am a lot older than you (64). My wife talked me out of getting a Heritage and getting the Ultra back in 2004. All I can say is I am glad I listened to her. I love my Ultra.

I am 27 and have a fully dressed Road Glide! I guess I am not really in the same situation as I do not want to make mine look like a younger person owns it. Maybe because I have a sports car that feeds that hunger. But hey that's what's great about the bike world, make it your own and don't worry about what other people view it as.

I am sure that people say, and will say, that I shouldn’t have my bike or car but they are not in my shoes. I worked my butt off for what I have and where I am for my age. Jealousy is a beautiful thing; people will always hate what they can’t have!

Bought my first bagger last week ( 2011 Road Glide Ultra ) at age 65. Not because I'm old but because it is a great bike and I got a deal on it. Keeping my 08 Big Dog Mastiff to play with for now so I don't feel bad.

I'm 52 , at 40 I bought an Electra Glide Classic because I wanted to do more than bar hop and be comfortable , my freinds laughed at first , but after we did several trips together they all sold their fatboys and were on dressers within 2 years of me buying mine

I think it has more to do with your type of riding than age.

I was 30 when I bought a new EG,don't feel bad. Sometimes it did feel a little weird pulling up to the local bike night. Every bike like your model has riders over 50 on them. It didn't matter to me much,it was so comfortable it was all worth while. Screw what anyone else thinks, its your bike, just enjoy it.

I got my FLHT in '04 when I was 40. I had wanted one BAD for 2 years previous when I first rode a Classic. I had been riding my shovel for 14 years by then, and always thought baggers were for geezers.
One ride proved me wrong - baggers are for riders.

I see a young guy on one and I just think "smart kid figured it out quicker then I did"
