Default 4032 mile road trip and only problem was the radio!!

Blew a fuse within 15 miles of leaving, replaced it and kept riding. blew another later that day, replace it again and ride on. Thinking that when hit a hard bump to front end it when this happens. It does it again the next day so I tear the fairing apart and check for pinched wires. Nothing obvious, blow twice the next day and after that didn't do it again for four or five days. On the leg home it happened every day and most but not all the time happened when the front end took a hard hit from a bump in the road. Anybody had any experience with this on a Harmon Karden radio???

If your bike is still under warranty I would take it back to the dealer and if it isn't I would take it here..... http://www.ironcrossaudio.com/

I have heard a lot of good things about them and at some point i'm sure I will be sending them my radio..

Yeah I am aware of them and probably will investigate if I have a wiring problem somewhere and if not send it to them cause I have an XM, IPOD, and CB module on this radio so I can use hand controls. I hate to give that up.

I emailed ironcrossaudio with the question and will see what their answer is.

Ironcrossaudio replied and said to check all 12v wires in the fairing and if I couldn't find anything to send the radio to them and they would check it out with little cost incurred if nothing was wrong.

Good luck with the radio. Hope it's something simple and cheap. I would sure miss my radio if it wasn't there. When mine broke, the dealer had one sent in and I was kinda able to use mine till the other one got there.

I wouldn't think it would be the radio but power to it. Unplug it and go for a ride and see if fuse blows. Have you had the radio out? You might want to take it out and look for wires rubbing against fairing brackets.

You'll probably find a chaffed power supply wire "under the hood".

I just returned from a 9,100 mile road trip and I don't think I had the radio on for more than an hour.

The radio is ok when putting around town but when you're doing 75-85 MPH on the road there is so much other noise how can you possibly enjoy the radio?
