Default SuperTrapp SE Muffler Fitment

When the SuperTrapp SE mufflers are installed, it appears that the design leaves a small gap between the heat shield and the muffler can, exposing several inches of the muffler intake inlet.

Since the muffler intake inlets are susceptible to bluing, I would prefer a design in which those intake inlets were covered completely by the heat shields.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with the fitment of their SuperTrapp SE mufflers? Has anyone else had the intake inlets of their SuperTrapp SE mufflers turn blue?

Thanks for any insights.

Is there a gap between the muffler can and the heat shield?

If you loosen the header clamp and rear bracket bolts and slide the mufflers closer in towards the front it may reduce or eliminate the gap. Have you tried that?

I haven't tried it because I don't have them. This is part of my pre-purchase research.

You can see a couple inches between the can and the heat shield. I remember seeing some other threads of some guys complaining of this on the Thunder Street SE pipes which for all intensive purposes are the same pipe
