Some of the best riding of the season is yet to come. We ride until they start throwing salt on the roads.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to depress everyone. And yes, I know and intend to take full advantage of the 8 weeks or so we have left. I'm just thinking ahead and planning!

Thanks for the info - even though it was painful!

I was thinking this was a thread reopened from last year. Get yourself the Gerbings gear and ride as long as the roads are clear. Winter storage? Forget about it.... Personally I get a kick of of the looks on peoples faces when I am riding with the temps in the teens and they have no idea how comfortable I am. What a buzz kill....

Put plastic bags over the intake and exhaust pipes. Air still moves through open valves and through the motor.

How is it getting close to winter storage for you????

To answer your question:

1) Top off the tank and use Stabil or Seafoam to preserve the gas.

2) Change the oil just before you put it away.

3) Air up the tires nice and high (A few pounds above recommended pressure).

4) Lube cables.

5) Put the bike up on a jack so the tires are up off the ground (or roll the bike to a new spot on the tires every month while stored).

6) Either remove the battery, or put the bike on a battery tender.
+1. I would also add that it might help the injectors by riding your bike with a tank of the Stabil mix.

All of the above, but I've also stuffed rags in the pipes to prevent critters from nesting in there.

Along with everything thats been said....I roll each tire up on
a piece of 2" insulation and put a 2"x4" under the kick stand.

My storage shed is unheated, and we do get our share of sub zero temps....
hence the insulation under tires prevents flat spots.

Sta-bil , Battery tender & cardboard under the tires has worked for me for years.

We just ride 'em down here. I'll be glad when it cools down enough so I can wear long pants.
