Default Wrenching tools and spanners, what sizes are basic to start with

Don't want to bring my scoot to the dealer for maintenance any longer. Ordered the service manual and some tools like belt tensioner etc. But I need wrenches and keys. Can anyone tell me which sizes I do need? I don't want to end up with a tool box of which I am only using 10% of.
I'm living in the Netherlands so my tools are mainly metric, now I want to extend my toolbox with inch spanners etc. Please help me!

yeah, depending on the bike, for scheduled maint, most of the tools are in the roll up service tool kit.

You said that you ordered the service manual. If you also order the parts manual, in the back of that manual will be a description of every fastener on your bike. That will give you a pretty good idea what you will need. Basically, I could not live without a full set of 1/4" sockets, 1/2" sockets, box wrenches, open end wrenches, Torx bits.... Eventually you will need everything from 1/4" to 1" or even bigger, depending on how much work you are doing yourself.

I was looking in the service manual but could only find specific tools. I'm glad I also bought the parts book so I will have a look in this one.

Thanks!

It's expensive, but I purchased the Snap On Tools Harley Kit. Super high quality, and folds up into a small bag. I think the cheaper harley one should be fine. With my new bike I also invested in 1/2 in. torx and hex drives.

I have a FLHT and seems like a torx 27 is the hardest tool to come up with... and half of the damn fittings are that size! Ughhhh, when you invest in a set of torx, that size isnt in there....

Thanks!
Apart from usual metric/SAE tools, I had to buy:
- a 450 Kg scissor lift for 60 Euros,
- a 36mm socket with a 1/2" drive (8 Eur),
- a long breaker bar from KS-tools (50 Eur),
- a digital torque meter (60 Eur),
- an HD oil filter wrench (20 Eur),
- a 9/16 deep socket flare (20 Eur),
- a drive belt tension tool (25 Eur),
- the rest I already had.
