Does that bike ever see a corner Its been said before but that looks like the 6000 miles was done on a dragstrip.

Back to the question, that tire is done.

Ive read that the E 3 are getting 10,000 -14,000 miles I hope yours is a fluke because the E 3 is the tire I planned on using

Hate to disagree but looks like too much air pressure if anything. That and to many burnouts!

If you don't live in flatland, don't be too quick to think the tire has been run underinflated. For those of us who do live where the roads are like checkerboards, by the time we change out a tire the centers are shot and the nubs are still on the edges. At that point, they have the shape of a car tire.

Here's a pic of my second rear, with 10,000 on it. I can assure you it never ran underinflated. It just spent most of its life on flat roads.

I've got 8K on mine but looks like yours. I run alot of curves but the center is always going to wear flat. Getting to the mountain curves I run 80 mph and a lot of curves on I-80 close to that. If you're running high speeds you're going to eat up tires, the heat is a big factor.

GZRGlide, it's hard to tell from the picture what your tread depth is. The first E3 I ran, having that same tread pattern, I also thought it was wore out, but was assured by my indy who sold it to me that there was a lot of tread depth left. What fools you is that there is no tread completely across the center of the tire, so the center appears "bald." I got 17,000 miles on my first E3, and it looked a lot better than the 402 I took off at 10K that I showed above.

Take your finger and run through the longer treads, until you find one with a wear bar. You can feel them when you hit them. If at any point around the tire a wear bar is flush or close to the surface of the tire, it's time to replace the tire.

Here is a picture of my second E3, just now with 10,000 miles. We just got back from a 4000 mile mountain trip, so this tire has seen roads other than flat, and the wear pattern shows that.

Also, if you guys rely heavily on the rear brake, that will certainly shorten rear tire life.

I do about 80% of my braking with the front and 20% with the rear.

I agree with what your saying on the brakes. I changed my rear pads at 27,000 miles and have started using more front brake. Since I changed my braking style, my rear tire no longer sports the flat top look.
