Thanks for the info. I thought the mount stuck out pretty noticeably. I saw the covers, but the pictures make it hard to tell if they look good or not.

While we're on the subject, can a short sissy bar accommodate a regular size backrest pad on an '12 Street Glide? I think my wife would like something a bit bigger than the compact backpad, but I find the standard size sissy bar sits up too high and doesn't seem to look right.
If I do go with the short bar and the compact pad, will this fit with the optional Sundowner seat which I'll use for touring?
