Default Cheaper way to brighter passing and headlights

I am sure the new LED headlights are great, but they are just too expensive for me. I opted for a much cheaper alternative. I have been kicking around the idea of upgrading the lighting for way to long and finally took care of it.

I bought a sylvania silverstar headlight from walmart cost was about $10. Here is a link to the one I bought.

I changed the headlight and realized how yellow the passing lights were. I was back and forth about how to take care of those in a cheaper way. I read different posts on the forum and took some advise from a member and bought these from ebay. They match the headlight very well and were super cheap. They are also 37.5 watt. It should not add much current draw and the extra light is nice.

The total cost was less than $25. Very pleased with the results. Total install time was about 20 minutes. For those of you who are considering an upgrade, I don't see how you can go wrong.

Silverstar bulbs are notorious for very short life. May want to get an extra to keep with you just in case.

I packed my old bulb in my tool kit, just in case, but walmart is everywhere. Time will tell. I'm getting ready to head to the smokey mountains and Deals Gap this weekend. It should be a good test. I have had silverstars in my truck and wides car for over a year without any burnouts.

Problem with Silverstars on the bike is the vibration. It is normally the low beam that goes out. I have in the past ran the stars in all three positions, very bright. Be prepared for cagers to flash their lights at you. Which I could care less, at least I know they see me.

Phillips make auto bulbs as well. I have good luck with the whiter (2500K-3000Kish color) bulbs They make and They have the passing lamp bulb size as well in the same color. Also I took out the bulb cover when I changed the head light bulb. Cheap impressive change. Bulbs have been in there 2 + years and the bike has hit plenty of seat bouncing dips bumps and holes.

2 years ( and 35,000 miles ago,) I bought two Xenon bulbs from EBay for under 10 bucks each for my Road Glide. Still working, and bright white.
( Great for me at 5:30 in the morning out here in the country.)

Kept the original bulbs just in case, and never needed them, the Xenons are still in there.

Mine were rated 90/100, supposedly meaning their output in Lumens equals that wattage of a conventional bulb with draw of only 65 watts.

My 'heat' rating ( nothing to do with actual temperature,) is 5000K.
( The sun is 4850K.)

I'm really pleased with my less than $20 investment.
