103 power pak here and I'm here to tell ya the right calf gets damn hot!
Already tried what most suggest;
remove Cat - check
add mid frame deflectors - check
oil cooler - check
wear pants - check lol
richen up AFR - check

none of that stuff made enough of a difference, really.

The only thing I found is to learn to live with it. Best thing to do is keep some space between your leg and the bike. Two things help that for me;
1. add floor board extensions
2. use the highway bars

Removing the cat without changing the air cleaner and mufflers isn't going to allow the motor to breathe significantly better to take advantage of the AFR changes. That's my understanding. Let's hear from a real mechanic!!

No shorts (duh), no cats, better tune with the TTS and you should be all set.

I've done triple digits on my 103 with no cats, true dual and T-max and the heat was manageable. I don't like the shields myself. Their look and preventing airflow when you want it are detractors to me.

Maybe my RH's still have the cat in them.

BTW, I'm 5'7", so my legs are close to the motor... I can deal with the heat, I was just wondering if it was only me and a few other friends who bikes are like that.

As for the better tune on the TTS, I've had it looked over several times, and its fine. Even a couple HD mechanics copied the file for their customers.

I expect the exhaust to be hot, but it was very surprising how hot the air cleaner gets on my 103

The way that rear exhaust is routed it's no wonder your lower leg gets hot. It may be better for the passenger but...

Maybe true duals would be the answer.

You can modify the bike as mentioned by lots members here and it will reduce the heat but not significantly, it will be from too hot to just hot, wear some good riding boots and jeans will also make it little more tolerable.

I have an 07 cop bike that is a 103 purchased with 600 miles..I just turned 39,000 miles and after installing a pc 3 tuner,a bigger A/C,and slip on mufflers,there was no cat in the pipe in 07.Also put one of those Crotch Cooler thingy's on and the heat is not a problem..

Beginning in 07, when the TC96 came out, there were a lot of complaints about motor heat. The 103s were worse then the 96s, but both got pretty dang hot. There are a lot of things you can do to mitigate the heat issue, biggest thing is get rid of the cat, and get the bike properly tuned.

I got a 2010 FLHTK, I have tunes in my lowers so I have them on all the time. I have Jackpot ceramic coated headers, 555 cams, push rod kit from fuel moto, SE High FLow with 103 emblem, using klock werks 4" round long style straight cut slipons, I'm running a thundermax tuner (love it!!!) and I have the mid frame air deflectors. Runs like a bat of hell, I could not be more happier with the mods I made. For a big *** 900 + or - a few pounds bike and my big *** on it, it FLYS. I knew there was going to be a heat issue when I first bought it brand new, but to be honest it never really bothered me when the bike was stock. I have no issues now. I have heard lots of guys complain about the heat, I guess I expected it to be just crazy, so with all the mods I dont notice it all and It was very hot this past summer and I was not uncomfortable. I was wearing jeans and boots the whole time and remember I run with lowers, and still I was not bothered.

If it is that hot, look into a good tuner, it should help. I was not going to say anything cuase it's your leg, but shorts on a bike. I just cant see why dudes want to do this, I could go on and on about that, I have said enough about it. Good luck bringing down your heat.
