Black on pipes

Black on pipes
I love my Ultra but I don't love the fact I seem to keep getting black on the pipes. I know it is coming from my boot and chaps.
Here is the question: how do you keep this from happening? Move the floor boards out and inch? put some stops on the back of the floor boards? lower the seat? lower the bike?
It is driving me a bit nuts because this is the first bike I have ever had this issue with. Almost enough to make me trade it for something with pipes going somewhere else, my Fatboy never had that issue.
HELP!!!
I did 200 miles on it yesterday and came home with huge smile....

Moving the boards out an inch is a good idea regardless of heat or not--much more comfortable with them.
If your having that much trouble keeping away from the header pipe maybe a pair of those 'boot stops' is a good idea.
BTW-- Easy Off oven cleaner works well to remove the marks, but be careful not to let it get on anything other than the chrome heat shield, and don't put it on the pipe when it's too hot.
I spray a really generous amount in a cloth and lightly wipe it on, wait a few minutes and wipe it off.
