Default What is the trick to unhooking clutch cable from inside tranny cover?

I'm in the process of replacing my clutch cable and just took the tranny cover off. I can't figure out how the cable disconnects so I can pull it out of the tranny cover.I have already unscrewed it from the tranny cover just can't get it unhooked from the inside of cover. Thanks

You have to remove the snap ring from the ball and ramp mechanism with a pair of snap ring pliers. Then you can lift the entire mechanism out and unhook the cable.

This doesn't matter now since he has already removed the cover and unscrewed the cable end from the cover. He has all the slack he needs.

That snap ring can be a sum beach without a good pair of pliers

Need a big pair of snap ring pliers or if you don't have them, a pair of needlenose can be made to work. Don't lose the three little ***** in the ball and ramp assy. Also pay attention to where the opening in the snap ring was prior to removing. A service manual explains this procedure.

Just changed to S/S cable this weekend.
Remove the snap ring and turn the ramp over, the cable will come apart from the ramp.
You already have the hard part done!

Thanks, I went and bought a pair of snap ring pliers and that did the trick. Now I'm waiting for my new Magnum cable which should arrive tomorrow.

With the adjuster collapsed and the cable unhooked from the clutch perch, on mine there was enough slack to rotate the retainer piece around enough to unhook the cable end without pulling off the large C-clip and removing the ramp/ball assembly.
