Default V&H ovals, PCIII and Ness stage 1

Another member of the V&H/PCIII/Ness club. Installed it all and took it out for a spin.

And??
...and the bike runs much better than stock. Throttle response is noticeably improved and the TQ in the 3k-4.5k RPM range is a nice kick in the backside.

I had installed the slip-ons last week and put about 300 miles on them without the stage 1 or PCIII. I didn't notice any performance improvement from just the slip-ons. At first I was disappointed in the sound of the Ovals as they were not loud enough. For reasons unknown to me, the sound became deeper and louder after about 50 miles. They will never be considered "loud" compared to other pipes I have had including V&H Big Radius on my Fatty or Thunderheaders on a carb'd RK but those pipes didn't make me very popular with the neighbors. The Ovals are quiet enough to leave early on a Sunday morning and not worry about waking anyone up. But get on them next to a cager and they do hear them.

Installation of everything was incredibly simple and took under two hours total. Got the pipes and air cleaner from Eastern Performance Cycles, who ship same day, and the PCIII from Jamie who is incredibly helpful.

Interesting that you noticed the sound change. I thought it was just me. After I installed my slip ons, I rode to a neighboring town to get my "post purchase" oil change and service. On the way back they got WAY louder. I thought I was losing my grip on reality, but my wife noticed it too. Regardless, the change made me very happy.

I thought I was imagining it but, like you, even my wife noticed it and she doesn't notice much when it comes to the bike.

This is the same setup as I have. I have been very pleased with both performance and sound.

glaad to hear that. just bought the same, except i got a SERT. will be putting on this weekend, so am glad to hear about the sound. the snivel alarm in the back (wife) is a bit sensitive, but sounds like i can encourage her to accept these. if not, then i'll stand up like a man and tell her "yes, dear"
