If it were me, I would have them do a compression test on it. In fact, I am surprised they didn't do one already.

5000 miles on a 2006? The gaskets and seals were probably dry rotted after being all but parked for 6 years.
I bought my 06 last year with 2200 miles on the clock. It now has 14K and change, not a minutes problem so far......

Some debris plugging a banjo bolt? Held oil in the rocker box then built enough pressure to dislodge the debris followed by exhaustion of the oil?

Deteriorated umbrella valve in the rocker box turned itself inside out and failed (similar to what a rain umbrella does in heavy wind)?

Hmmmm....so few miles.....so many repairs...so curious. How the hell does a push rod "let go"? Well, I hope it doesn't turn out to be too much green to fix. If the previous owner performed a cam change, and installed adjustable pushrods, and didn't properly tighten them, that could be the root cause of the problem. What is the tuning and mod history of this bike? If cams and other engine work was done previously, then who the heck knows what will fail next if it was not done properly.

Both my 2000 and my current 05 would leak oil from the air cleaner. After long highway runs.

CAUSE.....Slightly overfilled engine oil will result in oil being sucked into the intake thru the case vent lines that route into the intake. Air filter gets soaked and then your leg.

CURE....Leave it about 1/2 qt low

A search here should come up with the same resolution.

I know that's a problem on older cars/bikes, but not sure I buy it on the newer stuff. Let's think about it.

Cylinder base seal is an o-ring. Doubtful it would dry up in the amount of time we are dealing with.
Head gasket is made of multiple composites. Again, doubtful.
Rocker box gaskets are metal lower and o-ring upper. No issue
Pushrod tube seals are all o-rings

I know o-rings can fail, but I have my doubts they would fail at 6 years. It was ridden. It's not the amount of miles that will create the issue, it's the frequency. Hell, he could have ridden it weekly to the corner coffee shop and put that mileage on it. It wouldn't be good, but it's not going to destroy it.
