Default Torquing 3 piece wheels

I purchased a set of custom chrome wheels and specifically asked the vendor if they were one piece or three. I was told they were 1 piece and decided to order them. Before installing this weekend a friend stopped by and said that they were 3 piece and showed me. I was wondering how often those with 3 piece wheels torque them. On his Big Dog rear he was advised to torque after the first 500 miles and then every 2000 after that. Also has anyone been lucky enough to be able to torque them with the wheels still on the bike.

Thanks,
Love the wheels but it would be a bummer if I had to take them on and off a lot.

sounds like you didn't get what you paid for...I would think that a 1 piece wheel ("billet") would be stronger and lighter than pieces put together
