Default Windshield Nut Loose.

Installed a new shield today. One of the screws goes in, but keeps turning... seems that the nut came loose. The screw is one of the end ones. The other two tighten just fine.

Has this happened to anyone else, and how did you fix it?

+1 I just bought 3 of these new inserts and the price was less than $8.00 for all 3.

They work great. Make sure you run a tap in there first and cut some threads.

Just guessing but what he might be thinking is that why does HD make such crappy nut plates that they have to sell inserts to fix an obvious inferior design. It's not like this fairing just came out and it was an unnoticited flaw and they are working fevorously to make a permanent fix. Just another example of substandard parts.

Now let the Kool aids krowd come to HD's rescue and say this is part of the experience, or if you want a fairing that doesn't come apart get a Kawasaki, or don't let the forum door hit you in the ***, or let it hit you. Take your pick of come backs.

Just in case your dealer doesn't know what you're asking for when you go looking for the insert; the part number is 16585-96.
