When I bought a touring bike the last thing I wanted to hear all day long was loud pipes. I gutted the CAT out of my Limited and the stock mufflers sound just fine to me. They actually sound pretty damn good.

Interesting, I have often wondered about that, I still have my stock mufflers. Maybe some time I will switch them out and find out how it sounds. Today I drove all around Lansing and in to St Johns total of about 70 miles and the sound didn't bother me at all.
This last weekend I did a 2 day 608 mile ride and that's when they kind of get to me.
Thanks for all the great advice you guys have given, I will look in to it.
Switch from screaming eagle 2's on my 06 95 inch ST GLIDE to factory take offs from a 09 ST GLIDE that has the 96TC. Mufflers are different side to side, HD made them that way to balance out rear cylinder, giving best of both worlds, 2 into one on the right muffler, scavaging exhaust using the left muffler and creating dualls at the same time. Hard to beat. Sound is good, mainly from the cammed 95 inch. Enjoy my tunes much more now at 70mph.

I've run the stock mufflers with my Jackpot head pipe. The sound isn't bad, but they really strangled the motor. The bike revs quicker and runs stronger with the 4" Jackpots. VEs are higher across the board as well.
Did you ever call Bassani and talk about baffle options? Any info you can share? Looking at possibly getting a set as I have seen many baffle options on Dennis Kirk. I want something that growls and barks, but I could change the baffle and quiet it down for long road trips.
I've got the same problem. I had Python Slip Ons but wanted to go with a true dual exhaust. So I installed a Python system and used the same mufflers. WAY TOO LOUD!!!! I am thinking that I might go ahead and keep the true dual pipes, but install the factory mufflers.

I did try about a week ago but this gal said she would have a tec guy call me back, but he never did. Now I'm at a job where my cell phone don't work. Now I realized I'm in Michigan and there in California so I should be able to call them after I get home from work.
I will try again this coming week...I will up-date.
