Engine guard mounted fog lamps on touring bikes using the accessory switch
I am looking for somebody that is using this kit on a touring bike, its part #68913-98B and has it wired up. I just bought a new kit for $100 and was looking thru the installation instructions and the wiring harness which includes a little push button switch for the power on-off that mounts to your clutch housing.
I want to use the accessory switch on my Road Glide instead of that cheap looking button switch for the power.....anyone using this switch for fog lights or has used that switch for this installation?
What about you Carl (Harleypingman) you got any suggestions?
thanks

ive used the switch for other accesorys.it controls a small plugg undr the seat in front of the battery, its a small plastic box with a rubber plugg ontop, under the rubber youll find 4 small holes one of them goes hot with ignition another is controled by the switch, the holes take duetch connectors u can get crimp ons for a few cents or harley makes a harness for around 20$,u can use a 12 volt light tester to figure out wich hole to use.

I tossed the cheap looking push button switch and relay and used the auxilliary switch. I did this install two years ago and have had no problems. All you need to do is run a wire through the backbone under your gas tank back to the auxilliary plug. The auxilliary plug is fused so there is no point in adding another fuse to the circuit. I suggest that if you want a good clean look, you locate your mounting locations on your engine guard then drill 3/8" hole and debur it then run your wires through your engine guard and bring them out where it the guard meets the frame. This will conceal your wiring for a clean wireless look.

The auxilliary switch on your bike is rated for 15 amps. The bulbs are 2.9 amps each. The relay is a bit over kill. After seeing an installation according to the instructions, I tossed my instructions and put the wiring harness, relay and little switch in my tool box for some other future project and used my own wiring which amounted to about $2.00 worth of 16 ga wire. I did a soldered splice into the orange switched power wire on the back of the accessory plug under the seat and the black ground wire. This makes a clean and safe install.
