+1 on that. Your gonna buy a new one anyways, might as well cut it. If I didn't tell you mine was cut down, you would never tell in a parking lot, and it get's it out of your center of vision. There's a couple threads on it, and a few good youtube videos about it. Blue painters tape the WHOLE windshield, cut a cardboard stencil of your existing shield based off of the shield from the metal bracket on the center. cut the distance you want off of the BOTTOM of that template, trace it onto the painters tape and cut that mother with a high tooth count saw saber saw or whatever you have. Sand and polish, done in about an hour.

LRS measures their shields from the top of the headlight to the top of the shield, where as Harley measures from the top of the headlight opening to the top of the shield. I also believe LRS measures before they put the recurve in the shield. I have both the 17 and 19 LRS shields, and the 17 (using a yard stick) measures 15 1/4 from the top of the opening to the top of the shield. I don't have the 19 here at the house to measure.

I'm 5'8", which one do you think would work good for me? The 17 or 19? I currently have a Memphis Shades that is 1 or 2 inches taller than stock and I want something shorter. Is there any distortion in the view through the recurve?

Thanks for all of the info. Haven't decided to buy a new one or attempt to cut the stock one. HD or another brand doesn't make a difference. I'm 5'8" and have the rear end lowered and the reach seat, so the stock windshield is WAY too high for me.

I went with the light tint 15 inch from clear view and I could not be happier. Perfect size for me as I look over the shield and still have plenty of protection from the wind with there recurve at the lip. One other great thing I like is that I wear prescription polarized sun glasses and the great optic clarity of the shield does dot cause the rainbow effect I had with other shields when looking through the bottom if needed.

I'm with the cut it down yourself crowd. I did it myself and that is saying alot coming from the guy who is banned from the power tool section at Home Depot. Just remember to use lots of that blue tape and lots of whisky to steady your hands before you start. It's like rocket surgery, only easier. If the patient dies, go buy a new one.

I went with a 14" smoked shield because it looked cool. After getting beaten by wind blast and buffeting I sold it cheap.

No distortion in the view. I am 5'11' and the 19 is perfect for me. With your height I would try the 17.
