5200 Miles 11 days
5 of us left Atlanta (4 RGs HQs120, HQs107 and two stock and 1 SESG) Jul 30 headed to Los Angeles via Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam and the Round Up in Las Vegas. 1st day we stopped in OKC, 2nd day we stopped in Albuquerque, NM 3rd day went to Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam stayed in Vegas for the night. Next day went to L.A. came back to vegas the next day.
we had to shut the bikes down in Conway, AR it was 105 degrees-- all of them were suffering from the heat we running 80 - 95mph--the people at the HD dealer were so gracious and kind to us -- it was ToadSuck Harley--big props to them; they fed us and made sure we were well hydrated before departing--changed the oil on the 120 due to a loud ticking from the motor and fine puffs of white smoke--it was fine the rest of the way.
Trip home Vegas to Amarillo; got up the next day went from Amarillo to Atlanta -- 22 hours straight riding. Thank God it started raining by the time we got to Memphis
5200 miles and 11 days later back and wrist still giving me some minor pain; I should have adjusted my handlebars--it was 98 degrees + from Mempis to San Bernadino, CA. We did very little riding at night.
It was a great adventure we had a lot of fun.

Not one issue with bikes (besides the heat).

In July 2010 a friend and I plus our wives on back rode to the Grand Canyon from southern Kentucky. Me on my Ultra, him on his 09 Road King (he has since traded for an Ultra).
We went west across I-40, then jumped on I-15 up to I-70 for the return trip home. In all we did 4700 miles in 12 days. We spent 3 nights in Flagstaff touring the Grand Canyon and Sedona areas.
Great trip. Maybe next summer I can make another trip out west, maybe to Yellowstone.
