Default was all set to do a trade in, then the steeler got greedy

like many, toying with different options. keep and upgrade what you got. trade in and get something different.

so I was thinking new 2011 or 2012. Then I saw this bike , which has always been one of my favorites.

had a trade in and cash senerio going.

but over the course of a week or so during which time I needed to finalize some participating transactions, my trade in values kept shrinking. And my out of pocket kept growing.

still have some ***** in the air and maybe something will stick.

or, as we approach the end of riding season, steeler might realize he might be better off unloading this used bike.

That's been my experience, more than not.

they hope you form an emotional attachment, then stop paying attention to the costs.

I hate it when a dealer thinks your a chump, like your some kind of naive lay down. Unfortunately in many cases they are right, but its nice to see you are aware of their intentions. Best thing is to play it out and see where it goes, turn the tables on them and let them come to you. Once you start pursuing them its a game of "what I can't have I want". Then you start rationalizing the deal, that anything you do in response is logical and well thought out, one of a kind bike, once in a lifetime deal, bla bla bla. However, I had to write on the blackboard (for screwing up) a thousand times; "patience is a virtue I must cultivate".

Sleep on it. As Davy Crockett once said, "make sure your right then go ahead".

Make the offer that you feel is correct. If it is not accepted walk out. Wait for the dealer to call. He may or may not but never ever over pay what you feel is right.

Oh yea, the middle of August is a tough time to try and negotiate on a bike. The middle of January always seems to bring out the best in a Dealer. When the temperature of the air matches the temperature of their heart, they become almost half way reasonable to deal with.

Just remember, the dealer needs the money, you want the bike, don't let them get it twisted. If you don't get that bike for some reason, trust me, another one will come along.
