Default pssst air be gone....

I installed my lowering kit today and put 23-25 lbs air in the shocks,....when I got home I put an air gauge on valve stem to check it and before I could read it it went pssst and then it showed 0 so here's the big question,....Will the air go out of the shocks that fast? Does'nt seem normal to me,...but hey what do I know,...(not much)

Thanks for the answers ahead of time....

Greg,

I hope you are using the MOCO air pump/gauge. It is an absolute MUST. There ain't much air in that system - just a few cubic centimeters at most.

Never lost a breath of air with this sucka.

Works perfect.

If you got the R.U.B. kit, you'll bottom out BIGTIME without any air!!!!!!

How's about some "slammed" pics too???

Are you talking about the Draggin Baggers air suspension set up? If so, some of the guys have had a leaky "t" fitting and one had to have one of the shocks replaced which DB replaced. If not, you need to describe your "lowering kit" .. a little more info would be helpful. I'm sure some of the DB guys will respond.

yeah,...I went ahead and purchased the R.U.B 2 1/2 lowering kit. Weird things is that when I took it to my wrench he said that I had been riding without any air all along. There was a leak in one of the lines. He installed it and I had him put 25 lbs. in....I was told by someone that at 21 lbs I would be fine. That's why I picked 25. When I got home from the shop I checked the air with a little air gauge with a round guage,...not a regular stick type. At first it showed a reading but before I could really see it I heard a pssst,(air escaping) like it normally will when checking, and when I looked again it showed zero. It only made that air sound for about 1 second. I am wondering if 20 + lbs can escape that fast
where do I get a MOCO air pump/gauge?
I'll get it right and post some pictures....

11 seconds is a long time to let the air out of a tire let alone a shock system, so you just need to get the right equipment to check your system 1st. Then fix the leak if you have one.

Greg,

Pick it up at any Harley Dealer. Harley Davidson MOtor COmpany = MOCO.

If you wanted to bleed out the system - down to 0# - I'd imagine that could be done in a second or two.

Suspension Air Pump

This pump was designed to allow safe and simple adjustment of the front and rear air suspension on Touring motorcycles. Unlike a bicycle pump or a fuel station air hose, the hand operated pump with controllable "micro bleed" valve allows precise adjustment to air volume, and the "no loss" air connector maintains shock pressure when the fitting is removed. The 4.5" swivel air hose simplifies valve stem attachment. The aluminum housing is compact, lightweight and durable, and fits easily into your bag for "on-the-road" adjustments. The high quality 0-60 psi gauge ensures accurate air pressure.

54630-03A

For use with Touring Air Suspension components.

MSRP US $39.95

Yep, forget checking it with a regular gauge, its gone soon as you press it on, the harley one had a sealed off tube, pump it up push a button and remove it with no air loss. 39.00 well spent they even have a new model that goes to 100 lbs for aftermarket systems. 69.00
